Tasks of the scientific secretariat


The scientific secretary serves as national contact point and coordination unit.

Additionally it has to
  • coordinate, evaluate and record the plenary sessions of the committee
  • prepare the meetings of the work groups, the Rundgespräche and the scientific national and international symposia and colloquia
  • coordinate the collaboration between the senate commissions and other national committees
  • compose and edit drafts of scientific projects or memoranda as well as to prepare the publications of the committee on a scientific and editorial level
  • represent the committee together with the director of the committee on scientific conferences and meetings
  • carry out public relation
  • hold the contact to scientific secretaries of other international programmes or to the respective core projects, to ICSU, to other national coordination offices for Global Change Research, to the international science organisations and to the national funding organisations
